Wavin' Flag

11.06.2010 --- "World Cup 2010 South Africa" officially starts.

And here today I would like to share with you all, the theme song of this year's World Cup, "Wavin' Flag", a very catchy, meaningful and delightful song. It was introduced by my sister, and I sort of fell in love with it.

Before the song, I would like to share this Pepsi commercial which is very interesting.

"You know who we are?"
"Do you know WHO we are?"

Always a winner!!!:P

Ok, back to "Waving Flag". It was originally sang by K'naan. But, a few variations were made out of this, each having its own unique twist. So hope you all like it as much as I enjoyed it.

K'naan For World Cup 2010

K'NAAN "Waving Flag" -Celebration mix- Dir: NABIL from nabil elderkin on Vimeo.

K'naan Original :

For the Haiti Earthquake, by various artists :

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back (3x)
ahhho ahhho ahhho

Born to a throne
Stronger than Rome
But violent prone
Poor people zone
But it's my home
All I have known
Where I got grown
Streets we would roam

Out of the darkness
I came the farthest
Among the hardest survival
Learn from these streets
It can be bleak
Accept no defeat
Surrender retreat
(so we strugglin')
Fighting to eat
(and we wonderin')
When we'll be free
So we patiently wait
For that faithful day
It's not far away
But for now we say

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back (3x)
ahhho ahhho ahhho

So many wars
Settling scores
Bringin' us promises
Leaving us poor
I heard them say
Love is the way
Love is the answer
That's what they say

But look how they treat us
Make us believers
We fight their battles
Then they deceive us
Try to control us
They couldn't hold us
Cause we just move forward
Like buffalo soldiers
(but we strugglin)
Fighting to eat
(and we wondering)
When we'll be free
So we patiently wait
For that faithful day
It's not far away
But for now we say

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back (3x)

And then it goes
When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back (3x)
oh woh oh woh oh woh oh

And everybody will be singing it
And you and I will be singing it
And we all will be singing it
woh woh woh

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back (3x)

And then it goes
When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back (3x)
oh oh oh

When I get older
When I get older
I will be stronger

Just like a wavin' flag (3x)
Flag flag
Just like a wavin' flag

Love Won't Wait --- Gary Barlow

Oooo! Finally, after years, almost 10years and more, I found one ofmy favourite all time song --- "Love Won't Wait" by Gary Barlow (former member of TakeThat).

All the while, I thought it was called "Open Road". Therefore have never managed to find the memories of the MTV. I only have a vague memory about a long road or path where Gary Barlow walks and sing at. I have been searching with "Open Road". So, no doubt it is fruitless! Not mentioning that he isn't as well-known as compared to many super-stars and his video clips uploaded are of course limited, especially "Open Road". He is more famous with his song "Forever Love", I think.

But when I was browsing, I came across this "Love Won't Wait". At last after about 12 years, I managed to stumbled upon my long found memories of this cute Gary's MTV, which fits exactly with what I have expected, the nice song and beautifully taken video. Hope you like it as I do.
*By the way, "Love Won't Wait" is one of the track from his album in 1997 --- "Open Road", hehehehe*

Lyrics is also enclosed :

When I first saw your face
Knew that I could not hesitate
You said, "Baby don't go too fast
If we do then it may not last"

Time went on and I waited for you
I didn't know what else I could do
(What else should I do)
I thought that we'd always be together
You said, "Hold on, it just gets better"

And I believed you
I kept holding on
You think that I can never leave you
You think I'm not that strong
You're wrong

Chorus:
Love won't wait (Love won't wait)
Forever and a day (Love won't wait)
Love must live in the here and now
Don't ask me how I know

So here I am with my heart on my sleeve
You said, "Baby put your trust in me"
But I have come to the end of the line
And you've wasted up all of my precious time

Wanted to be something special to you
Everybody's somebody's fool(Won't be a fool)
No, you've got me all wrong
(You've got me all wrong)
You don't know what you have
Till it's gone

And I believed you
I kept holding on
You think that I can never leave you
You think I'm not that strong
You're wrong

(Repeat Chorus)

Love takes time (Love takes time)
But you've been takin' too long(Take too long)
Time never waited for anyone
Don't wait too long
Or I'll be gone
Don't Wait too long
I'll be gone
I'll be gone

(Or there) There wasn't anything
That I wouldn't do
(And you) You led me on
You even said, "I love you"
(I love you, baby)
How can we go on
When it's tearin' us apart
(How can we love)
Are you going to break my heart?
'Cause I believed you

(Repeat Chorus)

Love takes time (Love takes time)
But you've been takin' too long(Take too long)
Time never waited for anyone
Don't wait too long
Or I'll be gone
Don't Wait too long
I'll be gone
I'll be gone

Love takes time
Don't let this love just pass by us
It's not too late, you must choose
Love is so hard to find
And so easy to lose

How To Cut Open A Pomegranate

Have been addicted to the special sweetness of pomegranate. Had bought my second pomegranate in my life, LOL. Was introduced by Justin and See Yee.

The first pomegranate in my life was tidiously delicious. I basically peeled the seeds one by one. My hands were tired, well, more of my fingers. My tongue was also tired. Well, the seeds are small, and I don't like to swallow the seeds. But I like the fruit. And gosh! I never know that pomegranate can stain so much. Fortunately I was wearing my cooking attire with the apron on.

So, I found on YouTube this simple clip...Still tidious, but better than me peeling out the seed one by one. So, do enjoy! And don't forget to read THIS for its nutritious facts.

The Day After Peace

This is going to be a very short blogging. Just want to share this documentary on YouTube with people reading this blog. It's named "The Day After Peace". An independent documentary of approximately 90 minutes by Jeremy Gilley.

In early September 2008, Jeremy Gilley and Jude Law had travelled to Afghanistan to document preparations for the polio vaccination on 21 September 2008 for 1.85 million children under 5 years old, in seven Afghan provinces where conflict has previously prevented access.

So feel free to click here and enjoy the clip. May there be peace on earth!

Happy Father's Day

This is a story I copied from one of the forwarded emails that I received.

A son asked his dad, "Daddy, would you like to run a marathon with me?".
The father said, "yes".
And they ran their first marathon together.

Another time, the son asked his dad again, "Daddy, would you like to run a marathon with me?".
The father said, "yes son".
And again they ran their marathon together.

One day, the son asked his father, " Daddy, would you run the Iron-man with me?"
*The Ironman is the most difficult triathlon ever (4 kms swimming, 180 kms biking, 42 km running?)*

And the dad said, "yes".

The story looks simple until you watch the following clip. Just amazing, how much can love be.... ?

Eat Real. Eat Local.

Hmm, nice work done. But of course, when we eat, we ain't gonna eat Canadian. We gonna go Malaysian. Petai, kangkung, papaya, pisang emas, mangosteen, durian, rambutan, langsat, dukong, duku, ciku, binjai, pineapple...WOW!!! The list can go on and on...

Malaysians who haven't stayed in foreign lands for long term, may not notice how lucky and blessed we Malaysians are for having the natural resources and wonderful harvest that we may have been showered with. But trust me, it is marvelous to have all different types of fruits, varieties of vegetables, choices of cuisine and dishes that we can choose ENDLESSLY...

Be in my shoes in a foreign land, looking at the Rambutan that was occassionally and accidently saw for the first time after 4 years...dark brown, shrunken and was sold at RM5 ONE rambutan. And I mean those type where if you were in Malaysia, you would just throw it away thinking that they can't be consumed anymore. Watermelon during winter can go up to RM50 for a 5kg piece. Chili 1kg RM100-120. OMG!!! And how much we get in Malaysia? 1kg rambutan RM5 or maybe RM10. Watermelon 100g RM1.60? Chili buy 1kg for RM5??? Or RM10? Who cares to buy? Just plant them!

We see varieties of vegetables, Siew Bak Choy, Choi Sam, Lady's fingers, long beans...... Here? In winter, Cabbage, Chinese Cabbage, carrot, cucumber (expensively), tomato (expensively), pumpkin, Cabbage, Chinese Cabbage, Cabbage, Chinese Cabbage, is potato a vegetable???...and again Cabbage, Chinese Cabbage, unless you are willing to pay an enormously higher price for the variety. Well, not much of a variety anyway, perhaps some brinjals, cauliflower, occasionally broccoli...

And there was once when we saw broccoli in the market and we Malaysians bought them happily as the price at that time was good. And a local Ukrainian came by asking us what was that. Obviously, we told her was Broccoli. And she further asked the seller how to "use" it. The seller said, "Salad". And trust me, when you come across any vegetables or fruits that we / they are or aren't familiar with, whenever you ask how to cook it, you will get a simple answer, do salad!

Summer comes in, well, a good sign, vegetable and fruits getting cheaper. Prices (per kg) red in winter, green is summer price
Brinjals uah30-50 uah10
Cucumber uah25 uah3
Tomato uah30 uah7
Chilli uah199-299 uah25

Watermelon and honeydew can get as low as uah0.50 per kg during summer!

Well, yes, sometimes they do get cheaper, even cheaper than in Malaysia. But they are so much lesser in choices and varieties. For so many years here, I haven't even come across Siew Bak Coi, Choy Sum, Kai Lan, kangkung etc. Not even once.

Oh, how I miss Malaysia's abundance!!!

YouTube Porn

All the while we have the impression that YouTube doesn't allow "porn". Meaning no private parts/naked scene to be posted. However it is a wrong concept. Yes, indeed it doesn't allow real porno to be uploaded. And I believe that it is good. Then what Porn am I writing about?

YouTube does allow nudity/naked video. Well, it isn't really a porn video that I am talking about. But it is some videos related to medical or health importance. Try YouTubing for "Breast Examination". And you might get about 1000 useful videos. However it requires you to confirm your birth date by signing in.

How did I stumble upon these "naked" videos? Haha, I am looking for porn!!! No, just kidding. Was having Oncology cycle at the end of the semester and one of the hometask was about breast cancer. So was doing some search on breast examination that might save life.

Thank you YouTube!

FaceBook

How feverish are you about FaceBook (FB)? Yeah! FACEBOOK!!! Friendster is like kinda out-dated d.

How long a day do you spend on FB? Don't lie to yourself, hehe. Exactly how many hours? How long do you spend time reading your classmates' status, looking at your friends' photos, poking your university mates, writing on your sibling's wall...

Is it the first page that you would sign in, besides ... maybe ... your e-mails? Do you actually visit FB and post notes more than you actually chat with your parents? Do you actually play PetSociety more than you actually flip your books? Do you enjoy doing those quizzzzz more than scratching your head solving some Mathematics equation??? Or maybe Restaurant War is better than your dinner? Or perhaps much better than your breakfast???

But none is more feverish than me to even search for "FaceBook Song" on YouTube (yet another fever *sigh*). You see, the thing is when I am using other webpages, I have still somehow connected myself with FaceBook, shows that I am "sick"...severely...

And I really wonder how and why I get so addicted to FaceBook...Since when...? But I noticed...finally...at least...

And I am glad I found this interesting clip on YouTube. AGAIN it's about FaceBook. And I hope that I would be reminding myself again and again each time my addiction starts......

OMG!!! I am just opening a new tab for FB just to change my status!!!

No Boundaries (Lyrics)

The finalists of American Idol Season 8 sang a newly composed song --- No Boundaries. Each bringing a different style and sensation. Enjoy the clips embedded and feel free to voice out which version do you prefer.

Also enclosed is the lyrics which I find encouraging and meaningful. Never give up and go for your dreamz!

Kris Allen's Version

Seconds hours so many days
You know what you want but how long can you wait
Every moment last forever
Then you feel you’ve lost your way

And what if my chances are already gone
I started believing that I could be wrong
But you gave me one good reason
To fight and never walk away

So here I am — still holding on!

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breathe it's harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you almost gave up on your dreams
Then take it by the hand and show you that you can
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries

I've fought 'til the limit to stand on the edge
What if today is as good as it gets
Don’t know where the future’s heading
But nothing's gonna bring me down

I've jumped every bridge
I've run every line
I've risked being safe
I always knew why
I always knew why

So here I am still holding on

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breathe its harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you almost gave up on your dreams
Then take it by the hand and show you that you can

You can go higher
You can go deeper
There are no boundaries
Above and beneath you
Break every rule coz
There’s nothing between you and your dreams

With every step you climb another mountain
Every breathe its harder to believe
You’ll make it through the pain
Weather the hurricanes
To get to that one thing

Just when you think the road is going nowhere
Just when you almost gave up everything
Then take it by the hand and show you that you can

There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries
There are no boundaries

Merengue

I have always wanted to learn dancing. But just couldn't find the time to go for the lessons as it often coincides with my classes. Then I found a good way --- YouTube!!! Thanks a lot for those uploaders. So seems like I need just to find a partner now, hehe.

Here is a simple dance --- Merengue. It's a Latin American dance with a 2-step beat. Merengue originated from the Island of Santo Domingo. Both the Haitians and Dominican Republicans claimed to have invented it. The Haitians claimed that a great, war hero returned from the battlefield of the neighboring islands. However, he had severely injured one of his legs during the battle. Therefore, during the victory feast, everyone danced by dragging one leg to not embarrass their hero. While Dominican Republicans claimed that a prince was born with a lame leg and his servants, in order not to insult him, danced by dragging one leg.

So hope you too are learning with me the simple basic steps of Merengue!

Way Back Into Love

I like the tune of this song.
I like the movie --- Music & Lyrics, romantic and simple.
Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore were good in their acts.
I like the way Haley Bennett sings the song.
Simple and soothing.

ConnieTalbot

Have started to watch Britain's Got Talent recently. I know it has been on more than a year. But I always thought it was just another "British Humour" sort of programme. But now, I've changed my mind.

Came across a little super star---Connie Talbot. Was impressed by her voice which certainly is unfit for her age of 6. Because of her talent, she has now came out with her first debut album with 12 songs, including her famous "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" that got her to her finals for performing to the Queen of England. I don't understand why she actually lost to Paul Pott though, haha.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow

I fancy her singing of "You Raise Me Up" and Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" . I honestly pay respect to her songs despite her age of 6, and she is the youngest singer recorded in UK. I know in Malaysia, there were lots of singers coming out with their albums at a younger age, like 3 years old, or maybe 4. However, they are totally incomparable.

You Raise Me

I Will Always Love You

These "young artist" are mostly rubbish and used by the companies to produce songs for mere business purpose. Most of them are not actually good at what they are doing. I can't really see their real talent. Unlike Connie, I am impressed by her vibrato especially and at least I feel her singing with some emotions in it currently, which I can't feel from the way the "young artists" sing. The "young artists" were merely having words coming out from their mouth instead of singing.

I just wonder what was I doing when I was 6. Maybe I was still busy playing "masak-masak", or still running around playing with sands and soil......
