There is a gadget that allows one to call with reasonable prices through computers and sometimes even free. Visit http://www.voipstunt.com/en/ for more information.
It is a gadget that after signing up, paid €10 by credit card and downloading the software, one is allowed with a 300 minutes free call to the selected countries per week, lasting for 120 days. After the period of 120 days, one needs to call by the fee provided according to the calling destinations. Of course, when you reload your account with another €10, you will again be eligible for another 120 days free call to te selected destinations.
What is good about this is that popular destinations are available for free. Like us Malaysian students, call for Malaysia landline is FOC, but a minimum rate of €0.04 is applied for H/P. And if you are constantly calling to Singapore, both the H/P and landline are FOC. Destinations such as the USA, UK, Spain etc are also FOC selectively. Even if we need to pay, I think the rates are still lower compared to the rates available outside. The rates are available at http://www.voipstunt.com/en/calling-rates.html . You can also SMS with the rates available at http://www.voipstunt.com/en/sms-rates.html
But I don't know why I couldn't get clear calls for my experiences, even though my friends do get very very good and clear receptions. Except for me, the others are having good experiences. So, try it especially if you were a constant caller. I would still recommend it as a good alternative ;-)€
